What is Flower Essence Therapy and how can it help me?

The practice of using flower essences in a consistent, purposeful way to experience emotional harmony and spiritual well being.  The essences can be used to support or change our emotional attitudes and ways of perceiving.  They provide a language that helps us understand our inner world and the ways in which we respond to life and life’s situations.  Flower essences enhance our spiritual understanding by opening the channels to a direct experience with our soul and spirit.

While many healing modalities focus on the physical aspects of healing, flower essence therapy addresses the emotional and spiritual levels.  Healing is a multilevel process that encompasses the whole person, which includes the physical body, the emotions, mental outlook, attitudes, and spiritual understanding.

Here is a list of qualities you might like to invoke and help bring out the positive in you:

Clarity

Focus

Healing

Wisdom

Tenderness

Balance

Sacredness

Abundance

Centeredness

Unity with self or Creator

Patience

Humor

Forgiveness

Can also be used for crisis situations: panic attacks, pain, anxiety before surgery, transitions in life, processing painful emotions, dealing with stress and demands of life, depression, feeling empty inside, unloved as well as unwanted.

The Art of Sak Yant Thai Temple Tattoos and Natural Alternatives to Post Tattoo Care

 By: Nora Finch, Esthetician/Flower Alchemist,

Owner of n.Sati natural skin and body care

The History of Sak Yant – Sak means to “tap” tattoo and yant is Thai for the Sanskrit word yantra.    This art form goes back at least 2000 years ago, originating in Cambodia, during the Khmer empire, when warriors adorned themselves from head to toe, as a form of protection in battle to wear along with their sacred amulets.

They were sacred geometry designs (Yant/Yantra) tattooed onto the skin, originating from Buddhist, Brahman and Animist imagery, as well as they revealed magical incantations written in Khom (script used to write the ancient language, Pali), known to invoke supernatural powers.  The designs also incorporated Buddhist prayers, or Mantras.  As well as some were chosen for good luck in business and love.  They were only applied by magical practitioners and highly respected people such as Buddhist Monks, Brahman Masters and Ruesi ascetics.  It is practiced throughout Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand.

How it is applied: It is traditionally punctured into the skin with a long bamboo stick sharpened to a point (called a mai sak) or alternatively with a long metal spike (called a khem sak).

Sak yant a well respected, widely recognized art form on the internet continues to thrive, however anyone interested should take into account its spiritual value, as well as its rules of conduct.

It is a highly respected piece of ink, I would recommend anyone considering placing it on their body should consult an authority in this specialty.  They would most likely recommend traveling overseas for the work. Another thing to note of importance is that it would be highly offensive to the Thai culture to have it placed on an area considered inappropriate, which could simply be: its position on what they consider the lower portion of the body, which is usually anywhere below the heart.  So, please research and take this beautiful and ancient art form seriously.

Post Tattoo Care Alternatives

By Nora Finch

As we all know, taking care of your tattooed skin after a session is incredibly important. We at n.Sati Skin Care believe in using natural products for all skin care needs including post-tattoo care. From protecting your skin and healing scabs to moisturizing and ensuring the best possible canvas for your ink, natural skin care products free of synthetics and man-made chemicals are the created specifically to promote healthy, beautiful skin.

If you’re interested in adding more natural products into your post-tattoo regimen, we’ve recommended looking for four very important ingredients while shopping:

  • Cocoa Butter: keeps skin moisture and aids in healing of wounds
  • Olive Oil: helps retain necessary moisture
  • Wheat Germ Oil: regenerative
  • Vitamin E: excellent for scar healing and prevention because it prevents the attack of free radicals, which damage the skin and inhibit healing

Essential oils can also provide additional benefits to tattooed skin. At n.Sati Skin Care we recommend:

  • Lavender: fights infection and builds new cells
  • Helichrysum: many benefits, wound healing, generating new skin cells as well as helping to alleviate pain, known to be the only essential oil that plays a major role in scar reduction

The best and safest way to use essential oils on the skin is to dilute a few drops into carrier oils, such as jojoba or coconut oils before applying them directly to the skin. Generally, adding just a few drops of essential oil to the carrier oil is enough to reap the benefits of using oils like lavender and helichrysum while keeping your tattooed skin healthy and supple.
